Direct Marketing & Database Assistant, Berkshire     Up to £25,000 + benefits

This role will sits within the Marketing Communications team of this leading actuarial consultancy in the UK. The team works predominantly for the consulting actuaries but also conducts work for the Company.
This role will report into the Direct Marketing Campaign Manager. The Marketing Communications team predominantly supports business development activity (supporting relationships with current clients and supporting the development of prospects).

Job Definition:
To support the Direct Marketing Campaign Manager with database management and internal and external direct and e-direct marketing activities. To support the team, when required, with marketing/event related activities. 
 
In particular to:
o ensure the Fusion database is maintained (training will be given)
o help with mailing projects (internal mailings and external mailings conducted by fulfilment contractors)
o collating prospect information for reporting and to conduct desk research using databases such as FAME and the internet.

This role will liaise with senior colleagues to ensure information is correct and up-to-date on the Fusion database.

This role will require that processes, instructions and policies are followed and that tasks and projects are completed to schedule.

Job Description:
Key responsibilities of this role are:
· Carrying out list extractions for mailings
· Helping to liaise with mailing suppliers
· Carrying out e-direct marketing activity
· Supporting the Direct Marketing Campaign Manager with DM activity
· Database cleansing and entry - both validation and enrichment of organisations and contacts on the database on an on-going basis
· Processing of mailing returns - updating the database and logging all returns received
· Logging email delivery reports - successes/failures (plus follow up where appropriate)
· Rectifying organisation / contact duplications
· Investigating/correcting basic data irregularities (spelling, address format etc)
· Auctioning telephone calls/emails requesting data changes
· Extracting, matching and de-duping lists
· Following processes and systems exactly
· Conducting internal mailings
· Updating the prospects database
· Providing general support to the Marketing team (marketing administration, events support and web updates etc. when required)


Required skills and experience:
o Experience in database and/or direct marketing
o Excellent IT skills: intermediate Word and Excel
o A good level of spelling, grammar and punctuation
o Excellent attention to detail, especially accurate data entry skills
o Good organisation/prioritisation skills with the ability to manage own workload, whilst still working as part of a team
o Ability to work with a variety of people, including senior people within the business
o The ability to multi-task and maintain a high standard of work whilst doing repetitive tasks
o Excellent telephone manner
o Enthusiastic, pro-active with a solutions approach to managing problems
o A general understanding of and interest in marketing

Non-essential skills and experience:
o Experience of working in professional services
o A Marketing, Business or Direct Marketing qualification
