Job Description
Corporate Risk Officer, Risk Manager, Oxon, to £32.5K
Position: Corporate Risk Officer
Location: Wallingford and Abingdon, Oxon
Salary: £28,500 to £32,500 Basic
Benefits: Excellent Benefits package available
ROLE:
Our client is a local authority looking for an experienced risk manager to take risk management forward at two authorities working in partnership. The position also involves developing a proactive approach to managing the organisation's arrangements relating to business continuity and to the Audit Commission's use of resources' and value for money' assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Coordinate and provide support for the development of a robust and embedded approach to risk management, building on what has already been achieved.
b) Develop a risk management strategy and maintain the strategic and corporate risk registers.
c) Identify the full range of risks across the councils and identify priority areas on a continuous basis.
d) Provide expert technical advice and guidance to members, directors and other senior/service managers in matters relating to risk management.
e) Raise the profile of risk management through proactive workshops, training and communications to ensure that staff buy into the programme.
f) Regularly evaluate the risk management framework and procedures to ensure that professional and best practice standards are met and prepare and present reports to political committees demonstrating the progress made in managing risk.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Degree or equivalent education.
b) Experience implementing risk management strategy and processes, including undertaking risk assessments.
c) Previous involvement in risk management in a local authority including delivering risk management training.
d) Excellent people management, persuasion and communication skills, determination and tenacity, including ability to work with and influence senior managers.
e) Numerate and able to analyse data, including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
f) Enthusiastic and proactive approach, able to act autonomously and use own initiative to meet deadlines.
g) Able to maintain an overview of the whole while also mastering the detail.
