• 5m. employees enjoy share plans

  Around 5m. employees in the UK are now taking part in schemes that give them shares in their own company. ProShare, a body that promotes wider share ownership, said that its annual survey had revealed that the majority of these people are in share incentive plans or save as you earn schemes. The average amount being invested in a share incentive plan increased during 2007 from £72 to £83 a month and in save as you earn schemes the average amount being saved went up from £71 to £89 per month.
