• Avoiding the boss when you are ill

  A growing number of employees now choose to send a text message to their boss if they are taking a day off sick.  A poll conducted by Covonia, the maker of cough remedies, found that 21% of workers would send their excuse in a text message in case the boss thought they were skiving.  But a quarter of those questioned said they would always want to telephone in to explain their absence in order that they did not feel guilty about taking time off.
