Job Description

A highly successful listed merchant banking group (FTSE 200) seeks a Group Accountant to join the investment Banking Team, based in London City. The group`s activities comprise banking, asset management, corporate finance and securities. The Banking Division provides specialist lending and treasury services to small businesses in the UK, Ireland, the Channel Islands, Germany and recently Spain. On revenues of £198 million and a loan book of £2 billion in 2007 the Banking Division made an operating profit of £72 million. The Banking Division employs over 1,200 people. The Group Accountant`s role will be wide ranging, encompassing management and financial accounting and some regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing certain management and risk management reports for the board, analytical reviews and researching technical queries as well as covering when other members of staff are away. The person will also be responsible for submitting the Bank of England reports and supporting our Risk and Regulatory manager in preparing our FSA returns. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong technical grounding - knowledge of IFRS an advantage - as well as the proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work to a high level of accuracy.
