European Rates Strategist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a European Interest Rate Strategist to join a 10-strong European government bond and derivatives strategy team based in London. The strong team has been ranked #1 in Fixed Income Strategy, UK Gilts, European Government Bonds and Technical Analysis.

The group is around 15 strategists straddling in our global offices covering default-free interest rate markets in the Euro, Sterling and Yen. Additionally we have two dedicated support analysts in our offshore facility in India.  Products covered range from plain vanilla governments and covered bonds through to ABS, swaps, swaptions, inflation-linked instruments and technical analysis.

This position is for an experienced strategist to cover nominal interest rates in Euro-denominated markets.  You would need to already have well established relationships with the investor base.

Within your role, you will be expected to identify research and publish on "themes" of interest to investors in Euro-denominated instruments. You will also look for and exploit relative value opportunities. It is important that you develop and discuss ideas with sales and trading on a daily basis and market your view through written notes, customer visits, internal meetings and conferences. Direct contributions to the team's weekly trade idea publication are expected as well as writing your own "stand-alone" pieces with an emphasis on executable trades.

Being able to prove real-time comment on chat in fast markets is essential and you will need to develop and maintain interest rate models for the analysis of government and swap curves and related derivatives. As an experienced strategist, you will be expected to transfer your knowledge to train juniors within the team and to work co-operatively with the economics group.

To apply for this position, you will need to have proven experience as an interest rate strategist and hold a Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Econometrics, or other relevant topic.   You will be required to demonstrate that you have produced creative original work on "thematic topics" and have experience presenting trade ideas both internally and to external customers.  It is essential that you hold the above criteria and that you have strong model building and spreadsheeting skills along with a solid track record of successful trade ideas.

We can offer you an exciting, fast-paced working environment, a culture of mutual respect and teamwork and the opportunity to play a vital role in our growth.

If you are attracted to joining an organization where every individual's contribution counts and where your talent will impact on our future, please apply for this position. It starts with you.

UBS is an equal opportunity employer. We respect and seek to empower each individual and the diverse cultures, perspectives, skills and experience within our workforce.
