Job Description
My client, a global insurer, is currently seeking Market Underwriter to provide underwriting expertise and services to customers ensuring first class customer service and that business objectives are met
Main Accountabilities
- Underwrite and negotiate business within authority limits, ensuring first class customer service
- Implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, procedures
- Monitor account performance highlighting the need for remedial action and appropriate recommendations
- Handle a range of queries within agreed authority limits, providing information and advice to assist in the development of the account and maintain underwriting standards
- Act as a source of underwriting knowledge and aid the team by sharing this knowledge, in both informal and formal settings, with less experienced underwriters and support staff.
- Min. 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
- At least 3 years Property & Casualty experience preferably in a new business role.
- ACII qualified or progress towards preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of local insurance market.
- Ability to coach junior underwriters
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent people, influencing & negotiation skills
- Ability to deliver excellent customer experience
- Ability to work in a team/team player
- Ability to cope with varying workloads and pressures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A positive and forward thinking attitude
