Job Description

The Ratings Insurance Group provides ratings and research on insurance and insurance-related companies worldwide. Because of the increasing globalization of insurance markets, the group coordinates all research and analysis through a global organisational structure, whose goal is to achieve consistency of rating methodology across countries. At the same time, they strive to ensure that its insurance ratings fully incorporate the unique aspects of local markets by assigning regional management and lead analysts with local market knowledge and presence. The Insurance group balances local expertise with global oversight to distinguish their ratings in the marketplace. The group also offers comprehensive research on industry issues and trends. In addition to ratings of insurance companies, the Ratings Insurance group also provides ratings of securitizations of insurance risk, including catastrophe bonds and life insurance securitization. The Insurance group combines timely, accurate and transparent coverage with responsive service to help market participants thoroughly assess their risk.

This is an outward facing role, involving liaison with issuers, investors and banks. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of detailed analytical reports supported by reviews of insurance companies' performance and comparisons with market benchmarks, together with the preparation of industry-focused reports in collaboration with colleagues from other teams. It is also expected that the successful candidate will assume responsibility for a portfolio of issuer ratings, where they will act as lead analyst, and will be required to travel regularly to meet with issuers - mainly within Europe.

Candidates must have a strong educational and professional background, preferably including a good first degree in a numerate subject, together with experience conducting financial analysis of the insurance industry. This experience may have been gained in a range of roles, including working in a technical capacity within the insurance industry or a large international bank; an auditing role in the insurance sector with a major accounting firm; or a role in a specialist management or actuarial consultancy firm. Fluency in English is essential for this role and the ability to conduct business in another language (ideally Spanish) would be an advantage. Applications from ACA-qualified individuals or part-qualified actuaries would be welcomed. Finally, all candidates should be able to demonstrate the excellent written and verbal communication skills required to write and present detailed analytical reports
