Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an LLB and / or LPC Graduate to work for a leading Insurance company based in Surrey / South West London.

The role will entail being the first point of contact for Claimants or their Solicitors wishing to make a Legal Expenses Claim.

The role will involve gaining a full and detailed understanding of the legal dispute in question, advising the client on how their policy operates, making a decision on the admissibility of the claim with reference to the applicable terms and conditions and communicating that decision to the policyholder either in writing or over the telephone.

The nature of the insurance is such that the successful candidate will often be required to discuss complex and emotive cases with a policyholder and provide guidance and decisions in a sympathetic yet firm manner.

Although full training and support will be provided at the outset, new joiners will soon take on significant responsibility within the team and will ultimately be given authority to admit and decline claims without supervision and respond to formal complaints.

The role will be challenging and demanding however it offers a unique opportunity to acquire and develop a wide skill set. The candidate will also gain exposure to an extremely diverse case load, ranging from low value personal injury claims, to high value commercial contract disputes. There are also excellent prospects for promotion within the team.

In order to be considered for this position you will be bright, dynamic and articulate. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are absolutely key to the role, as is an eye for detail. Candidates will also be expected to be able to work as part of a team and yet have the independence and organisational skills to effectively manage their own workload.

A law degree, CPE/PGDL, LPC or other legal qualification is desirable, however candidates from other academic backgrounds will be considered, particularly if they possess relevant work experience in an insurance claims role.

Once full competency is reached, a Negotiator can seek promotion to the role of Senior Negotiator, which benefits from a higher pay scale.
