Their recently appointed Head of Finance is looking to upskill the current team and keen to hire a talented individual able to take on a role that will be dually focused on an initial project as well as overseeing all outsourced fund accounting. For the first 6 or so months, this position will be hands on and gritty, focusing on scoping out the current fund accounting arrangements for 5 or so fairly complex debt focused funds. You'll need to get to grips with a host of legacy issues with the aim of re-defining all reporting and controls around these funds. This will involve a heavy amount of analysis around what's currently in place and also require you to work closely with the fund auditors and administrators to smooth out issues around reporting deadlines and valuations. Longer term, the role will grow to manage all outsourced fund accounting (requiring the hiring of a small team to assist you) which will involve you working closely with the Portfolio Managers to understand investment strategies and decisions. The true scale of what's involved is both challenging and exciting and ideal for anyone looking to move out of a dull process driven role. In terms of the person required, you'll need to be fully qualified and more than likely be coming from training in a top accounting firm (Top 4) with some credible post-qualification experience under your belt. As this is quite a different and left field role, we're open to people from investment management, fund accounting, product control or financial reporting backgrounds but would expect you to have a strong understanding of investment products and what funds are. Finance as a whole is growing at an incredible rate and likely to be double in size by this time next year. The salary on offer is lower than market rate but reflects the bonus driven culture of this company where earning 100 percent plus is realistic and achievable.
