Job Description

 

 

Responsible for providing single point of contact for financial and commercial support to Delivery Unit manager and their team. Act as an agent for continuous improvement at delivery unit level by fully understanding and challenging existing working practises of business users at the operational frontline, in order to deliver increased financial efficiencies and improved levels of supplier performance

 

 

1.       Provide overall financial and commercial support to Delivery Unit Manager with respect to all relevant activities at delivery unit to maintain financial integrity.

2.       Provide support to delivery unit management for the establishment of budgets and the period reporting, review and analysis of actual results and all financial forecasting. Monitor performance, identifying risks and opportunities and review delivery of corrective action.

3.       Actively contribute towards provision of appropriate contracting strategies, procurement services and commercial services as required.

4.       Implement business planning processes and monitor action plans for the delivery of business objectives. Challenge Delivery unit initiatives and plans to achieve efficiency targets.

5.       Act as focal point for delivery unit contribution to internal Capital and third party costs and provision of estimates when requested.

6.       Manage and support the unit cost and volume reporting process at the delivery unit.

7.       Act as key support to Delivery Unit Manager for the Business Review process.

8.       Maintain technical standards of accounting in accordance with statutory, regulatory, HMRC, and Group Policy & Regulations and maintain appropriate controls to enable compliance with the company’s commercial policies and procedures.9

.       Provide the focal point within the delivery unit for resolution of all issues relating to the purchase-to-pay process.

10.   Provide the principal delivery unit link with Strategic Sourcing support. 

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Essential

       ·       High level of understanding of financial and/or commercial systems and policies within the company.

  •        High level numeric skills ability.
  •        Strong leadership ability.
  •        Able to effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside of the business.
  •        Self motivated and able to work on own initiative.

             ·        Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making. 

Desirable

·         Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area and accredited professional qualification in either Finance or Commercial profession

·         Full Membership of an appropriate professional organisation

·         2 years post qualification experience

·         3 years experience within finance and/or commercial disciplines of Network Rail and/or external organisations.
