Job Description



Job Purpose
 
To ensure effective measurement, control and optimisation of key risk processes.  The  Job holder will be responsible for one of the key processes in the management of the unsecured portfolio (e.g., transaction authorisation, new account decisioning, or loss forecasting). 
 
The job-holder will be responsible for the design and development of effective measures, ensuring the process is well-controlled, and driving an ongoing optimisation program of significant value to the business.  

This job can be tailored to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels.  Experienced candidates will be expected to able to operate independently in critical and/or contentious areas.  Close guidance and training is available for candidates starting out in their careers.  A background in Risk management or financial services is not essential for candidate able to demonstrate strong aptitudes for this role.

Key Characteristics
 
A numerate degree (typically from a strong Maths, Sciences, Engineering, or Economics faculty) or equivalent
Exceptional numerical reasoning skills
A passion for business analysis, and finding commercial value in data
Strong communication skills, in particular the ability to explain the results of complex analysis to a non-technical audience
Strong relationship and influencing skills, in particular the ability to bring about change in areas beyond the job-holders control
Must have a disciplined approach to delivering analysis or change accurately and on time
Ideally, strong spreadsheet analysis skills
Ideally, a proficient and experienced SAS programmer
Ideally, with experience of Credit Risk management in Retail Financial Services
