Our client champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture. They provide the standards, training, support and recognition that put their members, both in the UK and overseas, at the peak of their profession. An opportunity has now arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join their team.

This is the ideal role for a motivated candidate with experience of working in an accounts environment, looking to further their career within a long established not-for-profit organisation.

As an Accounts Assistant you will be responsible for maintaining the purchase ledger. This will involve registering, processing and checking the coding of all purchase ledger invoices.

In this key role, you will be tasked with ensuring the correct authorisation is received for all payments to be made and assisting with staff queries regarding the purchase order system. You will also process subscriptions payments for our client’s staff members.

Your other duties will include:

- Printing cheques and obtaining the necessary signatures
- Dealing with payment by BACS, as required
- Dealing with all supplier queries as necessary
- Reconciling all supplier statements
- Dealing with direct debit and standing order payments

To be considered for this position, you must have:

- Proven experience gained within an accounts office environment
- Experience of using financial accounting software
- Good MS Office skills
- A-levels (or equivalent) or equivalent experience, gained within a commercial environment

As an Accounts Assistant you must be able to build positive working relationships with your colleagues. You should also have excellent time management skills and the ability to manage your own workload. Excellent communication skills are also key.

Whilst not essential, experience of using Cedar OpenAccounts software would be an advantage to your application. Previous experience of working for a charity or non-profit organisation would also be beneficial.
