Job Description

Senior Manager, Group Financial Reporting Policy Our client is one of the largest and most diversified financial services groups in terms of both business type and geography, and its shares are listed in London, New York, Hong Kong and other jurisdictions. This adds significantly to the complexity of the accounting issues that need to be analysed, the volume of financial reporting that needs to be made compliant, and the deadlines by which matters need to be resolved. Reporting into the head of GAPS, this position is a policy setting role within the context of IFRS where you will be required to work with a broad range of finance, risk management and business customers across the Group in order to: . Specify the format and content of the Group`s external financial reports in response to changes in external accounting, regulatory and legal requirements, and business developments . Provide support and guidance to the finance and risk management functions on technical issues arising from the Group`s external reporting requirements . Provide technical IFRS input to the Group Chart of Accounts and supporting definitions . Review accounting opinions on complex transactions to ensure compliance with the Group accounting policies Responsibilities: . Manage projects to implement new disclosure standards . Represent the company at industry organisation working parties on technical accounting matters . Review accounting opinions in response to queries . Draft the technical form and content of financial statements, and personally cover the most technically complex issues, the most judgmental areas, and those which require extensive collaboration with business, finance or risk management functions . Carry out full technical review of competitor financial institutions` external financial reports, and benchmark the bank disclosures against them, producing recommendations for further development in reporting . Prepare training, carry out coaching and take a leadership position in promoting excellence in formation of accounting opinions of IFRS . Ensure the Chart of Accounts has been specified and created to adequately support external financial reporting requirements The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant with a strong understanding of the operation, risk and accounting of banking and investment products. The candidate must have significant experience in technical accounting in IFRS and have prepared/audited financial statement for a major global audit practice or a large banking corporation. Proven leadership skills and the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation are essential.
