Job Description

This firm is the largest firm of dedicated Chartered Tax Advisers in the Midlands.

The firms principal focus is the provision of bespoke tax and related advice, as well as exceptional client service, to wealthy private clients, the rich and famous, sportsmen and entertainers, their private companies and family trusts. In addition, the firm provides specialist and cost-effective tax consultancy and tax investigations support to accountants, lawyers and IFAs.



The role:

Reporting to the Head of Financial Investigations Group and Directors.

To manage own portfolio of clients under a tax investigation and Self Assessment enquiry including liaison with other service lines offered by the firm as necessary.

Working knowledge of Taxes Management Act and a good working knowledge of the taxes acts, particularly in respect of corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax both past and present.

An understanding of the indirect tax legislation and the potential interface with investigations.

Assist in the preparation of a Disclosure Report and review of supporting detailed analyses of historical financial data including business accounts, tax returns and other financial information such as personal bank and building society accounts.

Review tax computations for a given period under review as a result of an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs.

Correspond with clients and financial institutions as necessary.

An appreciation of the interaction of taxes and other relevant legislation.

An understanding of the requirements under the Anti Money Laundering Legislation.

Acting as a point of contact for client allocation. Assist in identifying cross selling opportunities to clients and agents.

Assist generally in marketing initiatives and present to differing audiences. Comfortable in running several assignments simultaneously, and able to balance conflicting client needs whilst maintaining a satisfactory level of client service. Monitoring assignment deadlines. Organise workloads of juniors to ensure a full interaction with other service lines and team members. Willingness to travel in order to service clients needs and market for opportunities

Previous experience of tax Investigations

A good working knowledge of Word and Excel and a familiarity with tax software and other general applications. An ability to work on own initiative and assist in being pro-active in converting opportunities into actual fees. Good communication skills both written and oral. Good research skills. Self motivated and an ability to work calmly under pressure.
