Job Description

Group Financial Controller – Property Group

The Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the responsibilities of the role are as follows:

Summary:

  • Managing an established team of finance professionals.
  • Devising and implementing a programme of financial controls and processes.
  • Maintaining a rigorous control across the group of all corporate and reporting procedures.
  • Responsibility for producing accurate and timely monthly results.

Management

  • Developing, leading and motivating a high calibre, customer-facing and effective finance team, constantly seeking to improve quality service.
  • Provide financial and management leadership to finance division.
  • Develop the accounting community to provide financial strength across all companies.
  • Staff management – expected 4 to 6 direct reports.  To include staff appraisals; training; development; coaching; hr.

Financial Control

  • Devising and implementing a programme of financial controls and processes to enhance overall financial discipline and adoption of Group policies.
  • Maintaining a rigorous control across the group of all corporate and reporting procedures.
  • Approve monthly payroll with HR from Accounts perspective.
  • Supervise and review production of monthly management accounts before onward distribution to business leaders. 
  • Active working capital management.

Reporting

  • Supervise and review production of monthly management accounts before onward distribution to business leaders 
  • Ensuring timely preparation, consolidation & reporting of group accounts.
  • Monthly cash management and cash forecasting.

Secretarial & Governance

  • Company secretary to selection of Group subsidiary companies.
  • Compliance officer

Relationships

  • Liaising with auditors and tax advisers 
  • Building effective relationships across the group with key executives to ensure accurate and coherent information flow within the group.

Projects

  • Financial management systems development and implementation and ad-hoc projects.


Requirements:

  • Previous financial controllership experience. 
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong academic record
