Job Description
Product Accountant
JOB PURPOSE:
Our client currently has a vacancy within its product control department which provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional. The candidate will be responsible for producing daily trader p&ls and ensuring that trading activity is accurately recorded in firm’s books and records.
This role will suit an all-round team player who is willing to get involved in areas outside of their specific role and thrives on working in a fast paced, dynamic and challenging environment. It is an excellent opportunity to learn in a very evolving and often demanding function which will give the successful candidate superb exposure to debt markets.
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The product control department supports a range of global trading desks and ensures that the fixed income and debt derivative trading activities operate within a well controlled environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily P&L reporting to traders
- Reconciliation of trader positions and investigation of reconciling items
- Perform the month-end close for the business in accordance with the corporate timetable including reconciliation of GL balances
- Independent price verification of trading portfolio
- Ensuring trader queries/requests are resolved in a timely and accurate manner
- Develop effective working relationships with traders, risk management, operations, settlements and other finance departments
- Participate in systems implementations & group projects and preparation of management information reports
- Consolidating and analysing trading results
- Ad-hoc Projects and queries resolution
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- Excellent spreadsheet skills
- Control focused and strong attention to detai
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of bonds and derivatives preferable
- Relevant industry experience an advantage
