Job Description
Experienced Payroll Administrator required for this City based in-house Pensions department on a full time permanent basis. This role is to support an increase in new staff numbers and manage expanding routines for expatriate staff, a new vacancy has arisen within the Salaries section. They are looking for a candidate with previous payroll or similar finance background to work in a small team administering UK, expatriate and pensions payrolls. The candidate should have standard knowledge of PAYE, be able to work to strict deadlines, work with minimal supervision and be able to accurately process large volumes of data. It is expected the successful candidate will be comfortable communicating effectively with all levels of staff within the Group.
Job Responsibilities
1. Update and record all UK/Expatriate staff salaries, pensions data in the monthly payroll cycle to ensure data is accurately processed to strict deadlines. Responsibilities include recording new starters/leavers/salary changes/additional payments/overtime, various calculations for pro rated payments. Maintain payroll diary for audit purposes
2. The job holder is responsible for receiving/issuing & completing all statutory tax forms to HMRC including P38, P45, P46, P60sub, P160, P85 & P86. Record keeping in respect of tax forms, also Maternity/Paternity pay, SSP/SMP/SPP in accordance with UK legislation and company policy. Provide assistance in production of monthly payrolls and statutory returns
3. Maintain National Insurance records for Class 2 & Class 3. Submit Applications to HMRC for certificates of Class 1 continuity in respect of expatriate staff. Monitor application and renew National Insurance certificates as necessary. Payslip & P60 distribution. Filing payroll records. Ad hoc report writing using Impromptu reporting tool Reconciliation of Balance Sheet Control Codes
4. Provide holiday/sickness cover for the payroll colleagues. Provide assistance when necessary BACS, cheque, salary and statutory reports.
5. Respond to routine correspondence with HMRC. Confidential communication with pensioners employees and senior staff
What you will need
1.GCSE Maths and English required. IPPM Foundation in Payroll Administration or equivalent qualification.
2.Proven experience working in payroll. Working Knowledge of Northgate HR on Line Payroll.
3.Standard knowledge of UK tax legislation in respect of personal tax and National Insurance including reciprocal social insurance agreements between the UK and countries abroad.
4.Standard use of Microsoft Applications to include Word and Excel.
5.Ability to process large volumes of data accurately.
