Job Description
Our prestigious legal client is looking to fill a permanent position within their Partners' Tax Team. The role is varied and the Tax Adviser will gain exposure to most of the work carried out by the team.
This is a small in-house tax team, which consists of 5 team members, plus a secretary. The team is led by a Senior Manager who, together with another Manager, is responsible for the UK personal tax affairs of approximately 200 partners, plus some spouses, retired partners, consultants, associates on secondment and US associates. We therefore prepare approximately 300 UK tax returns.
The main part of your role will be to prepare UK tax returns for a portfolio of partners, both UK and overseas based, to be reviewed by either the Manager or Senior Manager. Preparing UK tax returns for a portfolio of spouses, retired partners, consultants, and in particular associates who are US citizens, again to be reviewed by either the Manager or Senior Manager will also be part of this role.
Other details of the role are calculating partners' pension tax relief distributions, preparing lettings statements, both on the cash and accruals basis, to form part of the tax returns and dealing with queries from partners regarding their tax affairs on a daily basis, including Income Tax and CGT planning.
Our client is a highly respected legal firm in their field. If you have legal experience than this would be ideal. However, if you show that you are able to complete the above role comfortably, than professional services experience is a must
