The Financial Services (FS) team within IT Advisory consists of over 180 client facing staff and is continuing to grow rapidly. Clients include the whole range of FS organisations including retail banks, investment banks, insurance companies and fund managers.
FS IT Advisory is part of the National UK IT Advisory Practice covering all industry lines, and is also part of Financial Services Advisory. We work closely with other departments within KPMG such as Performance Management, Financial Management, Transaction Services, Financial Risk Management, Internal Audit and Regulatory and Compliance Services.
The Role
The role is within the FS IT Advisory Financial Modelling team which provides financial modelling and related services to a diverse client portfolio primarily operating in the Financial Services Industry.
Our team delivers real solutions by translating complex business situations into models which capture the drivers of value and risk. Our services include reviewing and building financial models, and providing other end user tools and solutions to clients.
We are looking from candidates with experience in financial and risk modelling. The ideal candidate will be able to work across:
- Risk Modelling - the use of statistical & econometric techniques and risk methodologies to quantify risk, in order to support decision making
- Transaction modelling - modelling transactions such as fund raising, valuations, M&A and option appraisals
- Operational modelling - modelling business operational requirements such as budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting, consolidation tools etc
Responsibilities
Development of Risk Modelling business:
You will be responsible for developing and promoting our risk modelling capabilities. This includes creating awareness (both internally and externally) and pursuing and converting opportunities.
Build and Review of Risk Models:
You will be responsible for leading and managing projects to build and review Risk Models, including but not limited to the following:
- Build modelling solutions based on the requirements agreed with the client
- Document code and procedures
- Review client models based on set requirements (e.g. offering circulars, rating agency, client specification, regulatory, etc)
- Test accuracy of client models
The Individual
You will need to be a self-motivated and innovative individual with:
- Advanced in Excel and VBA
- Experienced with either Access or SQL
- Experience in both financial modelling and risk modelling
- Understands financial and business concepts
- Proven track record for converting opportunities
- The ability to solve complex technical problems within a short time frame
- The ability to quickly assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge
- The flexibility to work in a high pressure environment at times that can demand working outside of normal business hours to meet tight deadlines
Also beneficial:
- Knowledge of at least one of C++ / C#.Net
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. Basel II and IAS 39)

Responsibilities
- The role undertaken by the individual will depend on the type and circumstances of each project, and will generally incorporate analysis and assessment of data and documentation, drafting of written reports and client liaison. The candidate should expect to work on a variety of project based work over a cross section of forensic work types, industries and geographies
- The individual will also be expected to participate in marketing, knowledge sharing and practice development
- Candidates will need to display a flexible attitude to working and be prepared to work overseas on projects.
The Individual
- To succeed in this demanding role you will need to demonstrate the following experience and skills:
- Qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent and have strong academic record
- We are interested in people from all industry sectors, but in particular, Pharmaceuticals and Advertising
- Demonstrate proactive thinking and problem solving, self motivation and possess an enquiring mind
- Demonstrate good team working skills and the ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
- Individuals who are able to quickly establish credibility with clients
- An enthusiasm to get involved in marketing activity and in developing the Forensic practice.
