Job Description

Our client, an insurance-based financial services provider with an international network that focuses its activities on its key markets of North America, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe are seeking a Senior Technical Casualty Underwriter to work in the casualty team based in Birmingham office.

Job Profile
The role sits within the head office technical underwriting team and provides a senior referral point for the casualty line of business, the role will involve customer contact in relation to high level risks, escalations and audits however much of the work will be involved in strategic projects and a governance/compliance capacity. Candidates must therefore have strong casualty based underwriting experience, future progression for next step would be underwriting manager level. Applicant will be required to provide superior underwriting expertise and services to customers ensuring first class customer service and that business objectives and company standards are met. Implementing company underwriting policy in area of specialisation. You will also underwrite and negotiate business within authority limits, ensuring first class customer service, implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices, procedures,handle a range of queries/ referrals from UKGI Commercial units within agreed authority limits. You will also implement and assist in developing underwriting strategy for area of specialism and be involved in effective training of underwriters.

Applicant Requirements
You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent business underwriting experience or extensive experience of an underwriting area. You should have a good understanding of underwriting principles. Strong Casualty line of business underwriting skills are sought. You must be proactive and able to manage a varied workload with strong verbal and written communication skills.
